About

I write a lot of things; horror, sic-fi, suspense, mystery, historical, young adult, non-fiction...I should probably pin it down to one or two things, but so far I've followed my whims.

Most often, however, I keep coming back to is horror. Although I love to read all different types of books, this is my favorite, and it's also my favorite genre to write in. Why? I don't know, although you can probably blame Stephen King for a good chunk of it.

I've written dozens of short stories in the horror genre, many of which have been published in magazines like Weird Tales, Black Static and Chizine. I also have a story in Cemetery Dance's Shivers 7 anthology called Bovine.

In 2010 I won two grants; a Minnesota Artists Initiative Grant, as well as a Gulliver Travel & Research Grant, from the Speculative Literature Foundation. I was on the panel of judges for the 2011 Gulliver Travel & Research Grant, and I've helped judge their Older Writer's Grant for the last few years, as well. I also help judge the GPS Writing Contest, put on by the Geek Partnership Society. I occasionally teach writing classes and give talks as well (especially for my historical novel Ox Cart Angel).

I hope you'll consider taking a look at some of my available titles scrolling along the right. If you click on any of those, you'll be taken to the Amazon store, where they're available as ebooks. If you don't have a Kindle, they're also available for pretty much any platform you have; Nook, Sony, iBooks, Kobo - you name it. Just look up my name on any of those sites.

My novel Northwoods Deep is also available as a trade paperback. I really like how it turned out. I think it would look quite nice sitting on your shelf. Yes, right there - no, over to the left a little. There you go. But seriously, you can find this on Amazon, too, or you can order it from your favorite bookstore.

Over the next year or so, my other titles will be available as trade paperbacks as well.

Anyway, I'm glad you stopped by. If you have any favorite horror novels or authors you'd like to recommend, I'd love to hear about them. You can tell me about them in the comments section, or send me an email if you'd like to joelarnold@mchsi.com.

Happy reading!
